All Lined Up (Rusk University #1) by Cora Carmack

All Lined Up - 5 Stars

Synopsis

In Texas, two things are cherished above all else—football and gossip. My life has always been ruled by both.

Dallas Cole loathes football. That's what happens when you spend your whole childhood coming in second to a sport. College is her time to step out of the bleachers, and put the playing field (and the players) in her past.

But life doesn't always go as planned. As if going to the same college as her football star ex wasn’t bad enough, her father, a Texas high school coaching phenom, has decided to make the jump to college ball… as the new head coach at Rusk University. Dallas finds herself in the shadows of her father and football all over again.

Carson McClain is determined to go from second-string quarterback to the starting line-up. He needs the scholarship and the future that football provides. But when a beautiful redhead literally falls into his life, his focus is more than tested. It's obliterated.

Dallas doesn't know Carson is on the team. Carson doesn't know that Dallas is his new coach's daughter.

And neither of them know how to walk away from the attraction they feel.

Review

This was my 1st novel by this author and will not be the last. The writing was beautiful and highly engaging and the story was one that I will remember for a long time to come.

The Wicked King (The Folk of the Air #2) by Holly Black

The Wicked King - 4.5 Stars

Synopsis

You must be strong enough to strike and strike and strike again without tiring.

The first lesson is to make yourself strong.

After the jaw-dropping revelation that Oak is the heir to Faerie, Jude must keep her younger brother safe. To do so, she has bound the wicked king, Cardan, to her, and made herself the power behind the throne. Navigating the constantly shifting political alliances of Faerie would be difficult enough if Cardan were easy to control. But he does everything in his power to humiliate and undermine her even as his fascination with her remains undiminished.

When it becomes all too clear that someone close to Jude means to betray her, threatening her own life and the lives of everyone she loves, Jude must uncover the traitor and fight her own complicated feelings for Cardan to maintain control as a mortal in a Faerie world.

Review

This was just what I wanted from this novel. This novel continued the tale of Jude and her now King Carden. As with book 1 the fae are not the fairies from our fairy-tales of the past. This are cruel and deceitful and ever so much fun to read about. Cannot wait for The Queen of Nothing in the fall.

Review

This series was full of fun and enjoyment. This was the ending that I was hoping for. I am sorry this has now ended. I read the entire series via Audiobook and I would highly recommend trying out the audio versions of the series.

Lick (Stage Dive #1) by Kylie Scott

Lick - 4 Stars

Synopsis

Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.

Evelyn Thomas’s plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure as hell never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.

One thing is for certain, being married to rock and roll’s favourite son is sure to be a wild ride.

Review

This book was the beginning of the stage dive series. The book was cheesy but some days that's good for. A quick fun read and will be continuing on with this series.

Stardust by Neil Gaiman

Stardust - 3.75 Stars

Synopsis

Life moves at a leisurely pace in the tiny town of Wall—named after the imposing stone barrier which separates the town from a grassy meadow. Here, young Tristran Thorn has lost his heart to the beautiful Victoria Forester and for the coveted prize of her hand, Tristran vows to retrieve a fallen star and deliver it to his beloved. It is an oath that sends him over the ancient wall and into a world that is dangerous and strange beyond imagining..

Review

This was a wonderful whimsical novel but the novel is significantly different from the movie in many ways. But this is not a bad thing, just different. Neil Gaimans writing style is different from most but something that I personally enjoyed.

This was a brilliant sequel. These stories are a wonderful retelling of the princess and the frog.
