One Night of Passion - 4 Stars

Synopsis

Meet the unforgettable men of London's most notorious tavern, The Wicked Duke. Seductively handsome, with charm and wit to spare, one night with these rakes and rogues will never be enough…

Lifelong romantic Thaddeus Middleton is on the hunt for a wife. He hopes to find a woman more attracted to him than to money. Instead, he finds himself drawn to a spitfire who isn’t interested in him at all! At least, that’s what she says when she’s not kissing him beneath the stars...

Miss Priscilla Weatherby will inherit a fortune… provided she remains unwed and scandal-free. Easy enough, until she meets a man more dangerous than haughty lords and heartless rakes. Thad is a sweet, sexy delight, whose passionate embrace will ruin everything—including her! She’ll sacrifice anything for independence. Another stunning romance by the one of best historical romance authors Erica Ridley. The characters in this novella were wondering and enjoyable to read about. This has everything you could want from a historical romance novel. Headstrong and independent heroines and passionate romance.

This a new series from Brandon Sanderson. This time the author takes us into the world of YA Sci-Fi. This is my 1st book by this author and will not be my last. Such an interesting tale and genius world building that could only be completed by a master storyteller. Cannot wait to continue with this series.

Would recommend if you love a sci-fi.

This is a unique mixed format that takes place in a place that is meant to be happy place.
The story goes back and forth between various timelines. We follow a trial of a robot who works in a Disney type kingdom. The story is told as the trial takes place. What an interesting tale that steps away from the fairy tale ideals as we are taken through a gripping murder mystery.

Would recommend if you love a good fantasy and fairy tale retellings.

Stepsister by Jennifer Donnelly

Stepsister - 4 Stars

Synopsis

Isabelle should be blissfully happy – she’s about to win the handsome prince. Except Isabelle isn’t the beautiful girl who lost the glass slipper and captured the prince’s heart. She’s the ugly stepsister who’s cut off her toes to fit into Cinderella’s shoe ... which is now filling with blood.

When the prince discovers Isabelle’s deception, she is turned away in shame. It’s no more than she deserves: she is a plain girl in a world that values beauty; a feisty girl in a world that wants her to be pliant.

Isabelle has tried to fit in. To live up to her mother’s expectations. To be like her stepsister. To be sweet. To be pretty. One by one, she has cut away pieces of herself in order to survive a world that doesn’t appreciate a girl like her. And that has made her mean, jealous, and hollow.

Until she gets a chance to alter her destiny and prove what ugly stepsisters have always known: it takes more than heartache to break a girl

This is a very dark retelling of one of the stepsister of Cinderella. This is tale is not what I had originally expected from this novel. But this is not a bad thing. This was a tale that has been done before but this was done betters and darker than ever before. The writing was beautiful and well done.

Would recommend if you love a good fantasy and fairy tale retellings.
